Three BURFC Players Named to All-East New England
Contributed By: Chris Randall

Three BU Players were selected to the All-East New England Select Side this weekend after competing in the NERFU Regional Cup.  It is the first select side selection for the BU program since the mid-1990s, and a big sign that the program is still healthy and heading in the right direction.

Two seniors were selected to the side, captain/president John O'Donnell at 8-man and Bill Curan at fullback.  Freshman rookie Kaz Katsurada was selected as the top scrum half for the East side, based on his stallar play in the first match of the day before twisting his ankle in the last few minutes of the match.  Despite the injury which forced him to sit out the rest of the tournament, the selectors felt he was the best scrum half on the day and invited him to the East camp.

The NERFU Cup had 8 regional sides competing, 4 from the East and 4 from the West.  Other BU players who were named to the Boston regional side also included Senior Prop John Imbergamo and Lock/Flanker Andrew Davis.  The five BU players helped Boston to the finals and win the NERFU Cup in an exciting final over the Vermont Regional side, 14-5.

Best of luck to John, Bill and Kaz as they compete for a spot on the All-Northeast side.  Selectors will be on hand as their East side competes against NERFU West, Met NY and Upper State NY select sides at the NRU Cup, Sunday May 15 in Danbury, CT.
